Facebook used to catch Birmingham teen gun robber

An 18-year-old from Ladywood has pleaded guilty to robbery and having an imitation firearm with intent.

Kareem Khan is sentenced to five years in a youth offenders institute after the victims of the crime tracked him down on Facebook.

Khan robbed a property in Winson Green in April before being confronted by three occupants of the premises. He then pulled out an imitation firearm and fled.

Khan was identified by one of the victims who recognised him from their school days.

The family were extremely brave throughout their ordeal and through their dogged determination helped us catch the culprit.

– Detective Constable Darren Wilkie, West Midlands Police
