Council statement on administration of Birmingham-based care company

As of today, Birmingham City Council has given notice that the contract with Care People has been terminated with immediate effect. This is due to their unstable financial position and therefore their inability to ensure safe and quality services are delivered.

This action has been taken as a direct result of the company’s decision to hand back all Birmingham City council funded packages because they are unable to guarantee salary payments to their staff due on 27/12/13.

BCC has been required to urgently source all its current packages of care with alternative providers. This means that from 21/12/13 all care packages will be moved to different providers.

We are working with a number of providers, social work teams, internal providers, the service users and their families to ensure a smooth transition in order to maintain a safe and quality delivery of services.
