A violent thug who left his victim with brain damage in a one-punch attack has been jailed.
Unemployed Kyle Smith, aged 21, of Britford Close, Maypole, Birmingham, was sentenced to three years and one month behind bars after attacking a 63-year-old man in July.
Smith launched his attack on the "defenceless" man on July 2 in School Road, Yardley Wood, fracturing his skull and sparking a bleed on the brain.
He was arrested six days later after a witness appeal by police, and was charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent to injure his victim.
He was handed an extra 28 days for failing to show up to his original court date in October.
