Six fire engines were called out to East Midlands Airport this morning in response to reports of an 'aircraft in distress'.

Aircraft diverted from Birmingham Airport

The aircraft described as being "in distress" this morning at East Midlands Airport had been diverted from Birmingham Airport, a spokesperson has said.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service sent five fire engines and one Command Support Vehicle to the scene.

The fire service were called at 5:20 and the incident was over just after 6:00 when the Boeing 767 landed safely.
