A piece if Walsall history has been stolen from a house in Dudley, and police are appealing for information to help return it.
A mayoral chain of office was stolen from a h semi-detached property in Ballard Road in Netherton on Wednesday 5 February.
The chain, engraved with the words Mrs Percox - Walsall’s lady Mayoress in 1946 - had been presented to the owner’s grandmother and had been in the family ever since.
Cash and jewellery were also stolen in the burglary.
Detective Constable Jodie Cox, said:
The stolen holds great sentimental value to the family and is irreplaceable.
It is an important piece in the history of Walsall and the Black Country and we are appealing to anyone who has any information that can aid our investigation to call me.
