A local man has been killed after what police are calling a 'deliberate' house fire in Dudley yesterday evening.
A woman and two boys, aged 9 and 15, managed to escape the blaze on Wood Street, in Holly Hall and were taken to hospital as a precaution.
The street was closed for ten hours and surrounding properties were evacuated, whilst firemen tackled the blaze.
Detective Inspector Simon Astle, from Force CID said:
This was a major fire, started deliberately, which has claimed a man's life and was so fierce that the property has been left in a dangerous state.
Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the blaze and the man killed is yet to be named.
