A large tree has smashed into a block of flats in Derby after gale force winds of up to 80mph battered the region last night.
Residents had to be evacuated from the flats in Parker Street in the Five Lamps area of the city. No one was injured but four people are now in temporary accommodation.
The flats are managed by Derby Homes, and structural engineers are assessing the damage caused after the mature tree was ripped from the ground.
Widespread flooding across the country has been marked by calls for rivers to be dredged - but not everyone agrees.
