A Birmingham mother of three children has been sentenced to life in prison for drug offences in Pakistan.

Khadija Shah, 26, was arrested and jailed in May 2012 when heavily pregnant with her third child.

She was arrested at Islamabad Airport and convicted of smuggling 63kg of heroin. Khadija Shah has always denied knowledge of what was inside the bags - claiming they were given to her by her fiance who escaped when she was arrested. He has yet to be located.

She gave birth to Malaika in September 2013 but was refused bail. The baby has remained in prison with her since.

Her other two children are living with their grandmother in Britain.
