The Aegon Classic tennis tournament gets underway at the Edgbaston Priory Club today, featuring five of the top 20 ranked women in the world.

World number 7, Jelena Jankovic tops the list, along with fellow Serb star Ana Ivanovic, and a host of other big names from around the world.

The tournament is one of the main warm up competitions for the Wimbledon Championships. Daniela Hantuchova won last year's singles tournament.

It runs until 15 June, when there will be a charity exhibition match - 'Rally for Bally', to raise money for the Elena Baltacha Academy of Tennis and the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, after former British number 1, Elena Baltacha, died from cancer last month.

Martina Navratilova, Anne Keothavong, Jamie Murray and Tim Henman will take part in the charity contest.
