Two children were attacked in their sleep in a rampage which left their mother dead, police have revealed.
A 15-year-old boy was stabbed in the chest, puncturing his lung, while his nine-year-old sister suffered strangulation-type injuries.
Both are being treated in hospital and are expected to make a full recovery - but their mother, who was 42, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police were called to the house in Woodlands Farm Road in Pype Hayes, Birmingham, by paramedics at around 7.25am yesterday.
A post mortem is due to take place tomorrow to determine the cause of the mother-of-two’s death.
A 42-year-old man - the woman’s ex-partner and father of the two children - has been arrested on suspicion of her murder, and of the attempted murder of the two youngsters.
