The RSPCA are appealing for information after a man was spotted pulling a dog behind a moving van in Walton-on-Trent in South Derbyshire.

A passing motorist took a photograph of the man who was sat on the floor of the van with the back doors open, holding a tan-coloured boxer or bull-terrier.

It is thought the van was moving at about 15mph, forcing the dog to run behind it. The motorist that took the picture said the dog looked to have clearly been struggling with the speed.

The van was a white Transit type vehicle. The man is described as white, wearing a light grey hooded top, dark jeans, a blue baseball cap and brown shoes.

It happened at 4pm on 2 May this year.

The RSPCA say they are concerned for the welfare of the dog, and are asking anyone with information to call them on 0300 123 8018.
