Distraction burglars in Worcester told an elderly man they could help fix a missing tile on his roof, before asking to use the toilet and then stealing around £11,000 in cash from a tin in the bedroom wardrobe.

It happened on Thursday 3 July at around 12pm on Bromwich Road.

And in a separate incident an elderly lady in Redditch had her purse stolen when a man tapped on her window and asked if she would like some gardening done. When the purse was placed on the window ledge the suspect took money from it before running off.

Police want people to look out for elderly relatives, friends and neighbours and to warn them of the dangers.
