West Midlands Ambulance service say a driver was lucky to escape with minor injuries after crashing into railings last night (8 November).

It happened outside Guru Nanak Gurdwara Sikh Temple on the High Street in Smethwick at just after 7.30pm last night.

The car had been impaled on railings used to separate the road from the pavement and was also severely dented by the impact of the crash.

The service say a 20-year-old man suffered a leg injury and was treated for abrasions to his lower right leg but did not appear to have any other injuries.
