NatWest Rising Star nominee Maya Le Tissier says she has been inspired by England's World Cup squad who won a brilliant bronze medal in 2015.

Le Tissier, 14, became the first Guernsey girl ever to be selected in an England squad in the same year and is now focused on emulated her heroes in the years to come.

The young Sarnian who sights the Three Lions captain Steph Houghton as her idol believes their success has been a huge boost for the progression of the women's game.

It was amazing - I watched all their matches even the Japan game which was on at like three o'clock in the morning.

The whole world knew about women's football and the game got really big.

It's grown so quick, it used to be nothing and now it's like massive and it's amazing it gone so big so fast.
