Exclusive: Alex Rae applies for Forwards coach role at Jersey RFC

ITV News can exclusively reveal Jersey RFC captain, Alex Rae, has applied for the Forwards coach role vacated by Steve Boden.

It was confirmed last week that Boden would join the Reds' Championship rivals Yorkshire Carnegie at the end of this season, and the current skipper has told us he could bring '"good experience" to the job if he is offered the role.

I've been playing rugby professionally since I was 17/18, that's 12 years or so. I've been around this league a lot, I've got good experience, I've always been a bit of a student of the game so until you [take on a coaching role] you don't know what you could bring, so proof will be in the pudding if I get it. We'll have to wait and see.

Rae moved to St Peter in the summer of 2013 from Wasps and has captained the side since his arrival, helping guide the team from second tier strugglers to play-off challengers in three years.

The club are expected to announce Boden's replacement on Thursday morning.
