Jersey FA "assume" Brian Little will revert to Director of Football role

The President of the Jersey FA has given the clearest indication yet that Brian Little will not continue as manager of the island men's team.

Phil Austin told ITV News he viewed Little taking on the role after Jimmy Reilly resigned in January as a "one off."

He said he expects him to see out his contract, which runs until the end of this year, in his previous role as Director of Football.

We asked Brian [after Reilly's resignation] would you come in and take over the management of the job with support from local people. He happily agreed to do that. We saw that as something of a one off to be honest. We assume he'll revert back to his Director of Football [role] but we haven't had those discussions with Brian. He's coming over in two or three weeks and we'll have a sit down and chat with him then.

The former Aston Villa boss guided Jersey to a Muratti win at Springfield last month, but minutes after lifting the trophy, captain Luke Watson told us he thought Little should be replaced as manager by a coach who could spend more time with the players.

Little is based in the UK and has only been coming to Jersey a handful of times a month to meet and train with the players.

A decision over his future is expected within four weeks.
