Working full-time doesn't guarantee enough money to survive in Guernsey, according to a politician.

Deputy Peter Roffey is leading a major investigation into In-Work Poverty to see how professionals are coping financially.

He told ITV News "the cost of living is high" in the island and recent States policies have "piled on extra expense".

The review will look at minimum wage, employment benefits and affordable healthcare and housing.

The Scrutiny Management Committee also want to examine how tax affects low income households.

Professionals are being asked to share their experiences as evidence.

The panel, made of politicians and independent members, will eventually make recommendations to the States.
