Two buoys have been deployed near Herm in order to protect the island's population of puffins during breeding season.
The objects, which are bright yellow, are positioned in the south east of Herm near Puffin Bay.
Boat users and jet ski riders are being warned not to exceed the speed limit in the area in order to reduce any disturbance to the birds.
The Puffins return to the cliffs of Herm each year to raise their offspring.
Male and female Puffins mate for life and return to the same nest every year to lay one egg.
There has been a decline in Puffin numbers since 2015, with storm conditions in 2014 affecting the species locally.
