Chief Minister supports Jersey Alderney flights to boost tourism

Jersey's Chief Minister is supporting Jersey and Alderney working together to create regular flights and encourage tourists island-hopping.

It follows calls from a Jersey politician, who highlighted the issue of inter-island connectivity in a recent States sitting.

Deputy Sam Mezec says he was surprised by the lack of coordination between Visit Alderney and Visit Jersey, and better links would allow tourists to visit more islands while on holiday.

But, Senator Ian Gorst responded explaining the agencies are working together and recently discussed introducing scheduled air services.

At the moment there are no direct air or sea links between Jersey and Alderney.

Senator Gorst added that Visit Guernsey is in the process of formalising closer cooperation with Visit Jersey.
