On average 10 people each year in Jersey are taking their own lives, according to figures obtained by ITV News.
More than half had received help from mental health services in the preceeding decade and more than a quarter ended their lives whilst in the care of States' professionals.
One man, whose wife became one of those tragic statistics, says the system in Jersey is failing the most vulnerable in our society.
