More than 80% of those under 25 in Jersey are not saving for retirement, with most blaming low wages.
The figures come from a survey carried out by Social Security, as part of major review.
It also showed 39% of 25 to 34-year-olds were not contributing to a pension.
But, overall 72% of respondents said they were saving for old age, with most starting in their 20s or 30s.
Sixty percent of people who did have a pension, said it is because they were offered a workplace scheme.
