Tech giant Google has arrived in Guernsey today for its first British Isles education summit.

Technology experts from all over the world are descending on to Les Beaucamps High School to speak about how apps can be used to enhance learning.

Visitors will also hear from educators in Guernsey as part of the summit.

Teachers at Les Beaucamps school say they try to use the latest technology in all lessons to engage students by using virtual reality head sets

They argue that Google Education apps are a way to ensure all students can get their homework done.

Andrea Dudley-Owen from the Committee for Education, Sport and Culture says she is 'thrilled' that the Google Education Summit is arriving in Guernsey.

Significant effort and inroads have been made by Lucy Witham our Education Officer (Learning Through ICT) in ensuring that our children are benefiting from the use of technology and software applications in their everyday learning. Her efforts have almost certainly presented Guernsey with this fantastic opportunity and will put us on the global map as a digitally competent jurisdiction. It won’t just be our teachers and lecturers who will benefit from this Google Education event, but our whole community.

The event runs until Sunday and visitors have the chance to win prizes.
