Merging ambulance and fire services could save £600,000

Guernsey's ambulance service is run by St John

Merging Guernsey's ambulance and fire services could save £600,000 a year, according to a review.

The fire service is run by the States, but the ambulance is independent and is funded by a States grant.

The report says deputies should consider turning the two into one single operation.

It also covers other areas where the government could save money, but the island's most senior politician, Deputy Gavin St Pier, says savings won't impact frontline services.
