Attempts to further increase income tax in Guernsey have failed in the States.
The Policy and Resources Committee plan to raise an extra £14 million in tax over the next four years.
But, some politicians had tried to get that figure increased by as much as £28 million.
Proposals to create higher income tax brackets for wealthier islanders were also defeated.
Some States Members still feel without the extra funds, the States will struggle.
Deputy Peter Roffey says more needs to be done to keep the coffers in surplus.
