Guernsey professional Will Fazakerley has been cleared by his county Leicestershire to play for Guernsey in next month’s inter-insular and World Cricket League Division 5 in September.

The all-rounder made his first-class debut against Sussex earlier this summer, but will join up with Ash Wright’s Guernsey squad on 23 August.

They face holders Jersey in the inter-insular at the KGV three days later before heading to South Africa for the World Cricket League tournament in Benoni from 3-9 September.

Jersey coach Neil MacRae has said he will wait until the completion of the U19 World Cup Qualifier, being held in the island this week, to name his fourteen for WCL 5.

He's got that little bit of x-factor. I know he's been scoring a lot of runs for Leicestershire so he'll bat in our top four, and he'll also probably open the bowling. He's a very good player and I'm hoping, with his experience of playing a first-class game and being on the staff, he can bring quite a bit of knowledge into the team.
