Tom Pincus scored two tries as Jersey Reds beat Cornish Pirates 19-13 at the Stade Santander International to claim their first home win of the season.

They lost captain Scott van Breda to injury during the warm-up, but took the lead inside ten minutes when Pincus crept in down the right.

The wing showed good acceleration soon after to extend the Reds’ lead, but Pirates hit back straight away through Pete Laverick.

But Jersey restored their nine-point advantage when stand-in skipper Roy Godfrey touched down on half-time.

Pirates scored a penalty after the break, but Harvey Biljon’s men withstood massive late pressure to take the win.

Fantastic spectacle of rugby for any supporter who was up here. It was a seriously physical game played at high intensity and real pace. We had a bit of adversity before the game. The fact the players could problem solve, adapt, and still get a result against a team that's been together for some time. Any Jersey Reds supporter can be pretty proud of that.
