Former Guernsey Electricity worker jailed for fraud

A Guernsey man has been sentenced to six years in prison for distributing indecent images of children and defrauding Guernsey Electricity by £130,000.

Richard Forsey was employed by the company for 27 years.

The provider says Forsey "used his position of trust and intricate knowledge of the company" for his own gain.

External advisers were quickly appointed to carry out an independent examination of our processes and procedures and ensure that none of Guernsey Electricity’s customers had been adversely affected and I want to stress that not one single customer suffered a direct financial loss.

– Alan Bates, Chief Executive officer of Guernsey Electricity

The company says it has recovered the vast majority of the funds lost, including the cost of the investigation.
