A public inquiry into plans to build 65 homes on green zone land in Jersey is due to open soon.
Environment Minister Steve Luce called for further scrutiny on the plans submitted by Andium Homes for St Peter.
The social housing provider wants to build three-bedroom houses for first time buyers on fields on La Route du Manoir - opposite the Sir George Carteret pub.
But Deputy Steve Luce wants to explore the planning issues in more detail because there are some concerns about building on countryside.
An inquiry date will be set shortly and an independent inspector appointed.
