A Jersey charity is collecting donated winter supplies to help refugees in France.

They're urging islanders to bring the following items to the Bridge Family Centre in St Saviour this morning between 9 o'clock and midday:

  • Small-sized winter coats
  • Trousers
  • Scarves/Hats/Gloves
  • Underwear
  • Winter shoes
  • Sleeping Bags / Blankets
  • Back-packs / Bags
  • Mobile Phones

Volunteers from Jersey Cares Refugee Aid Group are also collecting money to pay for the above items when they get to France.

They are travelling to Paris at the end of November.

Two months ago, the Head of Humanitarian Advocacy and Campaigns at Oxfam said very little progress had been made in the past year, in the biggest refugee crisis since World War Two.
