Condor Ferries has denied claims that it is an 'exploitative employer'.

It comes after the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) warned against the firm's intention to bid for a new inter-island service between Jersey and Guernsey.

The trade union said it would be 'bad news' for those working in the industry, claiming seafarers are being exploited on the existing Condor fleet.

But Condor Ferries CEO, Paul Luxon told ITV News he totally refutes the 'absurd' allegations made...

95% of employees are recruited from the UK, Guernsey, Jersey and France and the remainder are non-EU nationals. Everyone is a proud and integral part of the Condor family and Duty of Care is one of the four pillars that underpin our business.
