Man sentenced to six years for pub knife attack

A 50-year-old man has been sentenced to six years in prison for attacking a man with a knife in Guernsey.

Sean Archer appeared before the Royal Court today charged with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and possessing two knives: a 12 inch blade and a 5 inch blade. He had previously pleaded guilty to both charges.

The attack took place at the Happy Landings pub in June where Mr Archer had been drinking. Following an altercation he left the pub and returned later with the knives.

Judge Russel Finch said the charge could have easily been one of murder had the victim not fought Mr Archer off.
