Plans in motion for Jersey Hospice to care for children

Jersey Hospice Care will extend its services to care for children and young people with life-limiting illnesses.

The charity hopes to have built a brand new purpose-built children's wing by 2020.

The plans include:

  • 3 en-suite rooms for children
  • 2 transitional bedrooms for young adults
  • 3 family suites
  • Bereavement suite
  • Shared space for music, play and recreation
  • Separate space for teens and young adults
  • Sensory room
  • Outside play area

Hospice have already started offering emotional support and day care services to younger patients and their families.

There are currently 44 children in Jersey living with a life-threatening or life shortening condition.
