A consultation on the proposed student finance grants has launched today.
Students and parents are asked to give their views on the new finance package that was proposed in the 2018 Budget speech.
The new model would see tuition fees completely paid for all families earning under £150,000. Students living in households with an income of £150,000 or more will get 50% of their tuition fees paid.
If passed, the model will apply to all eligible students studying for a degree from September 2018, whether in their first, second or third year.
However, one of the conditions is that students will have to repay the grant if they don't complete the course.
The consultation period will run between 11th December and 12th January with four drop-in events scheduled at Jersey Library.
- Monday 18th December: 10am - 3pm
- Tuesday 19th December: 5pm - 7:30pm
- Friday 5th January: 11am- 4pm
- Saturday 6th January: 9am-4pm
The Education Minister, Rod Bryans says the Treasury Minister has committed to the long-term funding of the new student finance proposals.
