New grant for people with a disability in Jersey

Credit: PA

People with disabilities in Jersey could be helped into jobs through a new grant.

The one year pilot scheme, called Access to Work, will give money to islanders with sensory, mobility or other physical disabilities to help adapt their workspaces.

The grants of up to £5,000 will go to locally qualified Islanders with sensory, mobility or other physical disabilities.

The Minister of Social Security is leading the scheme, Deputy Susie Pinel says she is "delighted" to be launching the new grant.

We recognise that some people with long-term health conditions or disabilities need extra support in the workplace and, in some cases, this may be an obstacle to them staying in their current role or finding a new job. Where specialist equipment or furniture may overcome this problem, Access to Work is designed to help.
