Work has started this week to protect the archaeological site at La Cotte de St Brelade.

The area is one of the most valuable Ice Age sites in Europe. It's world-famous for it's Neanderthal artefacts.

A protective wall will now be built around La Cotte de St Brelade to protect it from sea damage.

£500K
the cost of the project to protect La Cotte de St Brelade, led by Jersey Heritage.

La Cotte de St Brelade belongs to Société Jersiaise which is leasing the site to Jersey Heritage for the project.

We are delighted that we have together found a way to secure for Jersey and the wider world a unique and priceless archaeological treasure.
