Polish bakeries in the Channel Islands will be working around the clock today to supply islanders with sweet treats.

It's to mark the Polish tradition of 'Fat Thursday', a day when the Polish community eat doughnuts all day.

'Fat Thursday' lands on the last Thursday prior to Ash Wednesday and marks the beginning of Lent.

It is one of the most important holidays in the Polish calendar and mainly revolves around eating as many doughnuts as possible, all in the name of good luck.
