Jersey's former Treasury Minister and Assistant Chief Minister has been cleared of breaching the ministerial code.

It follows an investigation by the islands' standards commissioner.

Last November, Senator Philip Ozouf apologised for using his States credit card to pay for personal expenses.

It led to concerns over the need for a ministerial code on expenses.

Today a report found that Senator Ozouf made a genuine mistake in the administration of his expenses.

The independent Commissioner for Standards...found that the Senator was an extremely busy individual, who made a genuine mistake with the administration of some expenses....Now that Commissioner for Standards has finished his work, I will be implementing a new framework to support Ministers in the processing of their expenses.
