New figures show the number of crimes reported to Guernsey Police went up by around 200 in 2017, compared with the previous year.
The numbers of drug crimes, burglaries and sexual offences all increased according to the 2017 Law Enforcement Annual Report.
Common assault and criminal damages also went up.
But Guernsey's Chief of Police says despite last year's increase, long term crime rates are falling.
He says that police in Guernsey are better resourced compared to other forces and the island remains one of the safest places in the world.
