£50k short term work begins on La Mare De Carteret School

The school is in 'desperate need' of refurbishment

£50,000 worth of short term development work is taking place on La Mare De Carteret School in Guernsey this week.

The building is in 'desperate need' of long term investment, but that was delayed by the last States Assembly and interim work was agreed instead.

The previous education department wanted to spend £60m on redeveloping the building.

Deputy Gavin St Pier, who was Treasury Minister at the time, said he would rather close the school than rebuild it.
