11-year-old's humour and bravery 'inspiration to all' at Guernsey Police

Guernsey Police have helped an 11-year-old boy with an item on his bucket list.

Ernie Backlund-Leale, who has leukaemia and is receiving palliative care, wanted to sit in the chair of the most senior officer.

The force says they were 'only too happy to oblige.'

Ernie also got a tour of the station, including the Joint Control Centre, tried his hand at operating a speed gun, met Ledi the Police Dog and even had a ride on a police motorbike. Ernie - thank you for taking the time to visit us today, everybody loved meeting you. Your interest, humour and bravery are an inspiration to us all.
