Jersey taxi drivers won't strike this morning

Rank taxi drivers in Jersey say they won't strike this morning.

Instead, drivers will meet at 11 o'clock this morning to discuss the full details of last night's meeting between President of the Taxi Drivers Association, Mick Tostevin and Infrastructure Minister Eddie Noel.

They will then decide their next move, which could mean strike action.

Drivers are dissatisfied with the Minister's proposed overhaul of the system, allowing private taxis to pick up passengers who haven't booked.

Changes will also be made to the fare system, with an increase of 4.6%, but drivers say that doesn't take into account extra costs they have to pay as part of major reforms.
