A man who threatened his mother and wife on the day he was released from jail for assaulting them has died in prison.
Amjad Younis, 33, was found hanging in his cell at Preston prison this morning.
He was jailed for two years last month for intimidating his mother Amanit Bi and his wife Shazia on the day he was released from a 12-week sentence for assaulting them.
Preston Crown Court heard that after being released from jail on April 2, Younis called his mother in the afternoon and said: "I'm coming to the house to sort you lot out, for getting me sent to prison."
He then went round to their Blackburn home and started climbing through a dining room window.
A Prison Service spokeswoman said: "HMP Preston prisoner Amjad Younis was found hanging in his cell today at 10am.
"CPR was attempted by medical staff and a doctor but he was declared dead at 11.15am.
"As with all deaths in custody, this death will be the subject of an investigation by the independent prison and probation ombudsman."
It is understood Younis, of Blackburn, was subject to suicide prevention measures.
