Britain’s top cycling star Bradley Wiggins will be hitting the North West's roads with around 1500 other cycling enthusiasts for his 'Ride with Brad' event.
Cyclists from as far away as Chicago and Sydney are heading to Lancashire to take up the chance to ride with Tour de France winner and seven-time Olympic medalist WIGGO.
The event marks the launch of The Bradley Wiggins Foundation. It’s aim is to encourage and support more youngsters to take up the sport fitting with the intended legacy of the London Olympics which is to inspire a generation.
This will be the 32-year-old's first official appearance since winning the Olympic time trial gold medal in London earlier this month. On his website an invitation to cycling enthusiasts reads:
– Bradley Wiggins CBE
Come and join me on a challenging ride through the stunning Lancashire countryside and experience the roads and climbs I regularly train on. This brand new event has been specially organised to help celebrate the launch of the Bradley Wiggins Foundation. I look forward to welcoming you all and riding alongside many of you on what will be a special day for all the family."
Riders can attempt one of two rides either 160Km or 100Km on roads where Wiggins regularly trains .
Both routes start and finish at Victory Park, Barnoldswick, with an early start from 7am
