Home Secretary Theresa May visits Ellesmere Port scrambler bike project
The Home Secretary has visited a scrambler bike pike in Ellesmere Port. BASE Motopark CIC is a community youth project aiming to give local young people somewhere safe and controlled to ride off-road bikes and quads legally without causing disturbances within the community.
The track was created on waste land owned by Cheshire West and Chester Council. The thousands of tonnes of spoil from the development of the large Marks and Spencer store on Cheshire Oaks shopping complex was tipped on the site and moulded into the track.
Youngsters are taught riding skills, first aid, mechanics and other life skills. They earn points by attending and doing tasks and the points then allow them to ride the track.
