Arrest after teenagers stabbed

A man has been arrested after a woman and a girl were stabbed in Sharston.Shortly after 8.10am today, police were called to an address on Brownley Road following a report a woman had been stabbed.

Police and paramedics attended and found that an 18-year-old woman had suffered a stab wound. She has been taken to hospital for treatment. Her injuries are not currently believed to be life threatening.

A 13-year-old girl has also been taken to hospital for treatment to lacerations that are believed to be less serious.

A 22-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment to a serious neck injury.

Police enquiries are ongoing and a 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Chief Superintendent Rob Potts, South Manchester Divisional Commander said: “People in the area will undoubtedly be concerned when they hear about this, but I would like to try and reassure them this appears to be an isolated incident.

“Police and paramedics were quickly on the scene and those injured are receiving treatment at hospital. A man has been arrested in connection with this attack and will be questioned by police.
