Family's anguish over stolen camera

Police appeal for return of camera containing family photos Photo: Press Association

Greater Manchester Police say, a camera containing pictures of a beloved son who recently died was stolen during a burglary in Oldham.

Sometime between 8.30am and 12.30pm on Friday 23 November 2012, a house on Thornley Park Road, Grotton was broken onto.

The offenders searched the home and stole jewellery including watches, earrings and bracelets, money and a camera.

The Fuji camera had pictures of the victim’s 23-year-old son who had tragically died.

Police are now appealing for information that will help find the camera. Detective Constable Ged Hollywood based at Oldham Police Station said: “Understandably, the family have been left simply devastated that the camera with pictures of their son have been taken and are desperate to get it back.

“The items that were stolen have some value but to the family, the camera and its contents are priceless. It is likely the offenders did not know what was on the camera and just took it.

“I would appeal directly to them to return the item as you do not know the pain and upset you have caused to a family who are grieving the tragic loss of a loved one.

“I would ask anyone who may have seen anything suspicious between 8.30am and 12.30pm on Friday 23 November to contact us. Alternatively, if you have been approached by people offering jewellery or a Fuji camera in suspicious circumstances, please get in touch.”
