Two men are due in court after more than 30 kilos of cocaine worth an estimated £8.4million were recovered from a car on the motorway.
Andrew Lee Hodson, from Darwen, Lancashire, and Phillipe Theodore Degeest, from Limberg, Belgium, were both charged with conspiracy to supply class A drugs.
They made a first appearance at Manchester City Magistrates Court on Saturday 8 December 2012 and are due to appear before the same magistrates on Wednesday, 12 December 2012.
The charges relate to the arrest on Thursday 6 December 2012 of a man who was driving towards Manchester on the M6. Officers discovered the haul of drugs in his Renault Kangoo van when it was stopped on the M6.
A short time later officers from Cheshire Constabulary stopped an Dutch HGV, at the Lymm Truck stop on the M56, as part of a joint operation to disrupt serious organised crime.
