Police release the CCTV image of a man who is suspected of a street robbery in Clayton

Between 6.45am and 7am on Tuesday 20 November 2012 a woman was approached as she walked along Ashton New Road near Stokes Street by a man on a white BMX bike.

He demanded that she got into some nearby bushes. Fearing for her safety she ran into the middle of Ashton New Road and the offender rode off towards Coatbridge Street. He then approached another woman on Coatbridge Street and snatched her bag. The thief rode and was last seen heading away from Ashton New Road. He is described as a white man, between 5ft 6in and 5ft 10in tall, in his late teens to early 20s. He was of skinny build, was clean shaven with brown hair, small brown eyes and a pointy nose. Detective Constable Ian Hatfield from North Manchester CID, said: “The two women have been traumatised by this man’s actions. “If you were in the area on the morning of Tuesday 20 November or recognise the man from the CCTV image can you please contact the police as soon as possible.” Anyone with information should phone police on 0161 856 3521 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
