Murder investigation launched after suspected assault

A man has died after a suspected assault in Greater Manchester.

In the early hours of the morning police were called to a report of an assault on Castle Street in Edgeley, Stockport.

Police officers and ambulance crews discovered a 28-year-old man had suffered injuries in a suspected assault.

The man was taken to hospital where he died a short time later. A murder inquiry is now underway and detectives are at the scene.
