The family of a 22 year-old man who died after being struck by a car have paid tribute to a "gentle giant".Reece Duffy, from Irlam, was walking along Liverpool Road when he was hit by a Vauxhall Corsa van just before 8pm on Friday.He suffered serious injuries and died a few hours later in hospital.His devastated family said in a statement: "Reece was a gentle giant loved by many people who had a huge circle of friends."He was a loving son, brother, cousin, nephew, grandson and great grandson to his large extended family."We are all devastated and we don't know what we will do without him."He was a handsome man and was proud of his appearance and we are all so very proud of him."He had a fantastic character and he rose above everything that life threw at him. Whenever he walked into a room his smile lit the room up,"He was a son that any parent would be proud of."Younger brother Jordan added: "Reece was the best brother you could ever have."And older brother Ryan called Reece his "right hand man."A 19-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving has been released on bail.Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 0161 856 4741.
